Christians, why did Jesus ascend into heaven if it's not a physical location above us?

I don't know or care where Heaven is physically at as long as I get there. Airplanes fly into the sky, but that doesn't mean they stay there. Maybe Jesus flew up and came back down in wherever Heaven is it.
