Why is Cesar Chavez such a hero among the pro illegal crowd?

Don't they know that Chavez was against Illegal Aliens to the point that he in fact testified in congress to have them take measures to stop Illegals from crossing the Mexican border because "surprise surprise" they were taking americans jobs and driving wages down.
