Would you join this club at a high school?

sounds fine, but i would recommend starting a chapter of a largely recognized charity/group like habitat for humanity, SAJE, amnesty international... you will probably make a more meaningful impact if you join a pre-existing group, only because you won't just be a tiny blip on some global radar.
